You can go out and spend a lot of money on fancy pastry bags and tips and perhaps use three of the decorating tips. This ensemble has everything you need to decorate the kinds of things the normal non-professional pastry chef bakes in their home or apartment. The only tip it doesn't have is the extra large which I need to make Churros. I'll have to buy that separately, I guess. But it has everything else you need. The box arrives with recipes for icings and well as instructions on which tip to use and what the finished product looks like. Very well priced. Superior service. I got mine in a couple of days. I made cupcakes and cookies over the Christmas/New Year holidays and decorated them with ease. Everyone was impressed and thought I bought them at a bakery. Decorating with this product is that simple. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to add a decorative flair to their baked goods. It is well worth the price.

(Much cheaper than Wilton's price, or any other price that I found. And with free super saver shipping - it's a steal! I've already filled it up. Would like some other compartments for holding colors - since they're only holes in the top tray for holding Wilton-brand only colors. But what can you expect, it made by Wilton!

Not a bad selection of tips, but difficult to store anything other than standard sized tips. Not enough compartments for the dyes (only 8), but they are the right size to hold dusting powder containers as well. I don't mind the color of the box, but then mine doesn't usually leave the house. Overall, my biggest problem was not having enough storage space. I decorate a lot of cakes so I have more tips than there are places and more than 8 colors of dye. And that doesn't include all of my other accessories. One plus is that it has a pre-drilled hole to place a padlock to keep little fingers from playing in the dye

After getting acquainted w/the basics of cake decorating, it was very easy to design my own cakes and execute them well.

I got this for my wife who used to be a baker at Minglewood cafe in Ely, MN - she slept above the cafe when she worked there. Before that and after college when she first moved to Ely, she slept in the back of her Honda Accord until she found the cafe. Her parents still don't know about this. She didn't like the cake decorating set - but rather than tell me straight out when return was an option, she tried to be accomodating of my feelings. Stating, "Yeah, it looks good." And, "...it should be ok." Come 6 months and a few fights later, it has been made obvious to me that this set is subpar. I'm basing this on her stating, "You don't know anything, I mean seriously, look at that stupid cake decorating kit you got me that is now wasting prime cabinet space - it stinks." Would I buy it again, probably not, well, maybe for my mother-in-law.
